ENGAGING, FUN AND EFFECTIVE!

Our educational programs for children are based on the principle that learning about our faith should be lively, engaging and (yup you heard it here) - fun!    Studies have shown that even when children are in regular attendance in Sunday School, they do not have a solid grasp of the core stories that form the core of our faith. That has all changed in the way we do learning programs for our children.

BLAST, BUZZ and GRAPPLE is a way of doing Christian Education that has proven to be very effective in children's education. It makes use of all the research done in the past decade on multiple intelligences, which informs us that children learn and retain what they learn best, when they use their preferred learning style.

Some of us learn better if the material is presented through art, others through music, others through drama, storytelling and other forms of learning. Our B.L.A.St. (Bible Learning Adventure Stations) program is designed for children ages 3 through second grade. The B.L.A.St. curriculum teaches all the classic bible stories and allows children four Sundays to truly learn the story and participate in action oriented activities as diverse as cooking, science, art, or games that will bring to life the story of the month. The theme for the Fall quarter is "Creation" and will focus on the core stories of our brginnings.

BUZZ is a new program for our third and fourth grade children. The Buzz program for our Fall quarter is called "Conquest." The Bible focus is: Where kids discover "God is good" as they journey though the book of Numbers and Joshua.
 
Our program for children in grades 5 through 8 is called Grapple. The Grapple curriculum tackles the tough questions preteens and middle schoolers are asking. It captivates their attention by digging into real life issues and engages their participation through attention grabbing lessons, thought provoking videos, fun games and relevant Bible lessons.

Both programs use teaching teams that commit to one month of leading the programs. This means our children spend time with a good number of leaders over their time in the learning program. Community is enhanced as children, young people, adults and seniors spend time together growing in the faith.

Safe Sanctuary

Our church has a policy in place for volunteers and paid staff, working directly with children and youth to guard and protect the safety, well being and healthy spiritual nurture of all people, especially children and youth. We covenant with one another to provide a safe and secure environment for all children, youth, and volunteers who participate in ministries and activities sponsored by this congregation. This covenant and safe sanctuary policy and guidelines reflect our deep commitment in making this congregation a holy place of safety and protection for all people, and a faith community where individuals can experience the love of God through healthy relationships with one another.
